Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota, spoke Saturday of improved dikes and preparations.

Still, she said, three people died in Minnesota due to flooding.

"It's a ferocious River," said Klobuchar. "We continue to be prudent."

Other Minnesota officials spoke of the need for flood mitigation more.

The U.S. Coast Guard, said one of his crews rescued rescued five people along the Red River Saturday - a resident and four stakeholders.

In Cass County, North of Fargo, residents placed sandbags along flooded streams and roads and used all-terrain vehicles to reach their homes.
