Yemen accepts the plan of the CCG, transfer of power in the meantime - Xinhua

(SANAA, April 24, Xinhua) - power transfer is pending in the coming weeks at the end the three-month street protests at the Yemen after the camps to power and the opposition have accepted the initiative proposed by the Council of the Gulf (GCC) cooperation.

The Yemen party, Ali Abdullah Saleh said on its Web site Saturday that Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi submitted their acceptance during the visit of the Secretary General of the GCC Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani.

Saleh said his supporters collecting downtown Sanaa Friday that he welcomed the initiative of the CCG and would deal with it positively under the Yemeni constitution.

"We will face the challenge of the opposition and we are anxious not to give up blood and we are anxious not to use firearms," said.

Tarik al-Shami, a spokesman for Saleh's Congress (GPC General popular) decision, told Xinhua Friday that "the ruling party welcomed the amended proposal of mediated by the CCG of transfer of power," adding "they deal positively."

During this time, spokesman for the opposition joint meeting Parties (JMP) of Mohamed Qahtan said Saturday the JMP accepted plan of the CCG, but disagree on some elements and issues.

"We accept officially, but we simply has objections to an element that the interim Government be sworn Saleh, (and) we suggest that the interim Government formed after the resignation of Saleh," he said.
